Urban Farming
Welcome to our humble Urban Farm!
What is an Urban Farm? It is defined as "people producing, distributing, and marketing food & other products within the geographical limits of a metropolitan area".
We are going to share what it means to us!
Many of us are forced to shop at our local big chain grocery stores that do not care about quality, chemicals, preservatives, or GMO’s. Realizing where our food is really coming from and what we are actually consuming on a day to day basis is mind blowing. In order for us to change our lifestyles to a healthier one it needs to start small, a local purchase small.
How do we accomplish this?
It is by supporting your local farmers, growers, farm hubs, farmers market, and locally conscious small grocery stores. It is by joining the urban farm revolution in any way possible such as growing a porch tomato plant, edible flower beds, vertical growing, roof gardens, bee keeping, pollinator garden, back yard garden, community garden/farm and the list goes on. Having ready access to fresh food is what our communities need to thrive.
The benefits from urban farming are endless like food security, community strengthening/participation, creating jobs, waste reduction, health boosting, positive environmental impact, biodiversity, teamwork, happiness and so on.
We can change the world for the better one plant at a time!
Our humble start was the love of gardening, being in God’s creation, getting our hands dirty, and the immense joy of growing our own fresh food. We added to our gardening adventure by growing our own plant starts and that turned into having a small garden nursery. We have not always been successful, but we always get back up and learn from our mistakes. We have seen the need for chemical free, NON – GMO, heirloom plants and we have accepted the task. In our nursery you can find a wide variety of rare & common culinary herbs, medicinal herbs, vegetables, and flowers.
We enjoy feeding our family with our garden and taking the rest to sell at our local farmer’s market. We wish to continue growing our small space in our neighborhood to be able to share & sell fresh veggies/herbs to our community for years to come.
